Designed for The Museum Of Country Life,
Turlough Park, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Ireland.
Designed to fit comfortably in the interior of the museum, it attempts to reflect some of the strong architectural characteristics of the building - simple shapes and a strong use of shadow gaps. The proportions relate successfully to each other to provide a design that looks strong and sturdy but not bulky.
The design of the gallery seating allows for complete disassembly for storage or transportation into 9 pieces for a three seater bench. The design can also be easily adapted to a four or five seater bench.
The bench pictured has been manufactured using American red Oak but could easily be manufactured in any required timber or even a veneered manufactured board.
